I was scrambling this week. There was just too much kids and too little me.
Mom, I pleaded on the phone, I’m not going to make it to pick up Alex from dance. Can you grab her? I’m stuck in Pasadena picking up Brooke.
She saved the day, grabbing my youngest and bringing her home. We had arrived home at about the same time. I gave my youngest a quick squeeze and then turned to give my mama a “you totally saved me today” gi-normous hug.
“Oh honey, I love your hair, ” my mom gushed. Continue reading
I have the privilege of sitting with a group of women. We meet every week. We talk about a simple story or truth from the bible, but mostly we support one another.
We cry. We give others space to cry.
We laugh. We give others the freedom to laugh.
We leave room to hear and be heard.
But, this week was special…. Continue reading
I caught myself today…
it was quite funny. I had just finished my workout and I had gone into the women’s restroom to umm, use it, and while I was in there my mind was just kinda wandering.
Does that ever happen? Like you are there, your body is there, but you are not? I hate it when I catch myself doing this, because usually I am so not there that I look like a half crazy woman having a conversion with absolutely no one. I hate that!
So I was gone. I went through the motions, my mind still working out some stuff that I was dealing with in therapy the day before. Continue reading
Well, that was a disaster…
I think it is safe to say that I literally did a face plant after returning home. I mean totally fell apart and the crazy thing is that I knew it was coming. Does that ever happen to you, like you know its coming and it still happens? Continue reading
I was riding home today after a long day at the camps (shown above), just staring out the window, reflecting on all that had transpired over the day. Thoughts streamed in and out seamlessly until my tired mind just fell into a lull, matching the rhythmic movements of the bus. Continue reading
Just in case, dear friends, it looks like I have it all together… I don’t.
Just in case you (like me) have a tendency to fill in perfect for others… I am not. Continue reading
I have the coolest story to tell you.
So, on our way home from India we had three flights and a seven hour lay over. Clearly not our finest 24 hours. By the last flight, Brooke and I were cranky and tired and just wanted to be horizontal. (Funny how your body craves that) Continue reading
We just finished our second day of the workshop and it still seems surreal that we are here, like in India, teaching what we have been intensely pouring over the last few years.
And the crazy part is that the girls attending are all over it. They are eating it up, like loving it all!
I think this was our biggest fear, that what we have found so incredibly helpful in America would not translate over to the work these women are doing in India. Plus, we had all the normal fears; Would the terms not make sense to them? Would the information be way too much and they would have difficulty grasping the concepts, or even worse, would they are already know this material and therefore it would be a waste of their time. Continue reading
So this is about when I really need to go to sleep, but as I finished my last post, I still felt a nudging, like I didn’t share the whole story.
The whole story… Continue reading
“Mom,” my youngest called while sitting in the front seat of our new car.
I heard her plea, but I didn’t respond. I was too busy swinging my head from side to side, making sure that I didn’t hit the, ummm, already crushed brick on the left of my driveway or trample over the grass on the right.
But she didn’t let up, “Maaaaam!,” she whined with attitude, a skill her old sister helped her perfect months ago. Continue reading
